The Ford Electric Vehicle Strategy

Ford is investing $22 billion in electrification through 2025 as part of its plan to lead electrification in areas of strength. The company is electrifying its most iconic products  - the Mustang, F-150 and Transit - with many more to come in the years ahead.

BlueOval™ City

Ford is leading the electric revolution by creating an automotive manufacturing ecosystem in Tennessee and building two battery plants in Kentucky. As a result, we'll be creating 11,000 new American jobs. These facilities will reimagine how electric vehicles and batteries are designed, built and recycled - all Built for America.

We've all become more aware of how our carbon emissions impact the environment. That is why we've designed the future of driving. Our energy-efficient vehicles, like the Ford F-150 Lightning® and Ford Mustang Mach-E® are only two examples of the strides we've taken to deliver a more energy-efficient driving experience. These all-electric vehicles deliver a glimpse into the world of efficiency that sets Ford apart from other automotive manufacturers.

Solar Power

In partnership with DTE Energy, Ford Motor Company will soon be able to attribute its energy consumption to a renewable energy source. By purchasing enough local renewable energy from DTE annually, Ford can account for all its energy usage in Michigan.

As a result of this deal, DTE will add 650 megawatts of solar energy, increasing the number of solar installations in Michigan by approximately 70%. This heralds the largest renewable energy purchase ever made in the United States by a utility.

It's the gift that keeps on giving. In addition to making the transition to a renewable energy source, this process will create a plethora of jobs, helping our fellow Michiganders find work. DTE Energy estimates this agreement will result in 250 temporary jobs and ten permanent jobs. Putting people back to work is a great way to boost the economy and improve the lives of those we love.

As a completely renewable resource, solar energy delivers a reliable replacement for carbon-based energy. It helps us get one step closer to our goal of being carbon neutral by 2050. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. This agreement between the Ford Motor Company and DTE Energy represents that all-important first step.
