While Ford has tweaked the exterior of the 2017 Escape by giving it a trapezoidal grille with bladed inserts, most of the updates are either under the hood or inside the vehicle.
There’s a choice of three engines: a standard 2.5-liter with independent variable cam timing (iVCT), an available 2.0-liter EcoBoost with responsive twin-scroll turbocharger, and an available 1.5-liter EcoBoost® iVCT (the most fuel-efficient Escape engine). The EcoBoost engines include standard fuel-saving and emissions-conscious Auto Start-Stop technology. All three engines come matched up to a six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, which allows the driver to override automatic operation and enjoy manual control over gear selection while in Sport mode.
Available technologies can alert you to vehicles in your blind spot or unintentional lane drift, while the a gentle kick under the rear bumper opens the available hands-free, foot-operated tailgate. The available Sync® 3 system offers advanced communication and infotainment features to keep you connected. The new FordPass™ uses optional Sync® Connect works to allow you to remotely lock and unlock your vehicle, check your fuel level, schedule maintenance, request roadside assistance and much more.
